RACE INFO

The course is a beautiful, flat 2-mile loop on the Bonneville Salt Flats - the fastest speedway on earth - on which you (Ultra) or your team of 4, 6, or 8 will see how many miles you can run from dusk to dawn (~10 hours, 50 minutes). The team who runs the most miles in each team category wins a trophy!

 

Grab your closest friends, family, teammates, co-workers, random strangers (not necessarily advised) and get your team together! Also, bring your supporters who don't want to run but who still support you and participate in the fun by getting Party Supporter wristbands (see below).

RULES

There are 2 rules:

  1. Every runner on your team has to run at least 1 lap (2 miles).

  2. In order for your final lap to count, you must finish it by sunrise.

 

Otherwise, you make your own strategy! Decide who will run when, how many laps, who will start, finish, etc. It's up to you! Get together and figure out how you can run the most miles from dusk to dawn.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

RUNNING ON SALT

Be prepared: there will be salt. LOTS of salt. You will be running, sleeping, dancing, and partying on salt. It's one of the reasons Dusk to Dawn Relay is awesome! Salt actually cleans up pretty easily, so don't worry...Some people say it's like running on the moon. It's not slippery, packed down in most areas, and sort of feels like running on a trail.

ACTIVITIES

Although activities change from year to year, here are some events you can look forward to during the night when you're not running:

  • Glowsticks galore (800+)

  • Team photos

  •  DJ + Dance party

  • Telescopes looking at the stars, Saturn's rings, etc.

  • Awesome Giveaways (some valuing $100+)

  • Dark Sky Hour (turn off all the lights and run under the milky way)

  • Deluxe Pancake Breakfast for charity

PARKING

The parking area and base camp are located about 1/4 mile from the end of the 3-mile access road to the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway (click here for directions to the speedway).

Parking will be slightly removed (about 200 feet) from the base camp and starting line to protect the runners. You will have access to your cars to take a nap, retrieve gear, etc.

BASE CAMP + STARTING LINE

The Base Camp area is the hub of the race - race info & medical tent, DJ, activities, restrooms, water, food, and runner hand-off area. As the race is at night, the Base Camp will be lit with generator-powered light towers (except during the Dark Sky Hour event).

Teams can set up camp chairs, canopies, and/or cots at or near the Base Camp. No camping in tents is allowed on the salt, due to BLM restrictions. If you want to camp in a tent, you can do so in the dirt area off of the 3-mile access road.

WHAT TO BRING

Required Items:

  • Flashlight

  • Headlamp and/or reflective running clothing - absolutely essential!

    • Due to public access of the Salt Flats at night, there may be other cars driving on the flats unaware of our event. The course will be marked and we will provide safety measures, but please do your part in keeping everyone safe)

  • Emergency contact information

  • Running shirt(s)

  • Running shoes

  • Running pants

OTHER INFO

  • Medical support will be available at the Race Info tent.

  • Water, electrolyte drinks, bars, and bananas will be provided during the night. Please bring any other running fuel you need during the night.

PARTY SUPPORTER

We all have family and friends who want to support us, but don't want to run. The Party Supporter wristband provides that opportunity! Come support your runners and participate in all the activities (minus the running), giveaways, music, and pancake breakfast for charity. All you have to do is buy a Party Supporter wristband!

 

COST

$15 per wristband. Below is the cost breakdown:

  • 40% - BLM Fee

  • 20% - Charity/Pancake Breakfast

  • 40% - Awesome Party Supplies Fee

So, buy a few wristbands for your family and friends when you register or have them buy their own, and come have a great time together!

4-person team: $85/person ($340/team)

8-person team: $75/person ($600/team)

Solo/Ultra: $95/person

***until July 1, 2020

EVEN LATER:

4-person team: $95/person ($380/team)

6-person team: $90/person ($540/team)

8-person team: $85/person ($680/team)

Solo/Ultra: $105/person
